Tea Garden News
Book signing and Tea Tasting First Baptist Church, Randolph, MA December 11, 2005
Tea Garden owner Mary Fernandes and Kirk Byron Jones, an author of
inspirational books, presented their Holiday Gift Basket designed to sooth the
soul this holiday season at a Book signing and Tea Tasting hosted by Pastor
Leland Clarke, at the First Baptist Church of Randolph, Massachusetts. The
Morning Brew Basket features Morning Brew Tea, a hearty black tea that boasts a
rich flavor and robust body along with a special aroma for an awakening
experience, and Jones’ best selling new book Morning B.R.E.W. : A Divine Power
Drink for Your Soul (Augsburg Books, 2005). The book is a guide to morning
devotions
in
which readers create their own devotional experience through prayer, silence and
visualization. B.R.E.W. stands for: Be Still, Receive God’s Love, Embrace
Personhood, and Welcome the Day. Fernandes and Jones designed the holiday basket
with persons who are overly stressed by the busyness of life in mind. Jones
offers, “What we need more than anything else is peace of mind and soul.
Ironically, during this season when peace is the theme of many readings and
songs, our lives become even more stressed by the holiday rush. We hope the brew
basket helps persons slow down and savor the season and life more.” Fernandes
comments, “A hot cup of tea and a refreshing devotion is a winning combination
for the start of each day.” The guest enjoyed the presentation by Mr. Jones
while they sipped their Morning Brew Tea and nibbled on delicious goodies from
Vernell’s Baked Goods of Randolph. Attending the event was Randolph's latest
celebrity Patti DeRosa, musician and song writer.

Have Some Tea With Me by Carolyn Donovan
The following article appeared in "Rainy Day Magazine." The full article can be found here.
I was once in a very posh restaurant in London with a very wealthy gentleman for lunch. After we ate, I ordered some tea. I had to send it back twice (they did not use boiling water), because apparently this restaurant was so posh they only served coffee. London lost a bit of its lustre for me that day... I was delighted to find The Tea Garden in the Food Aisle today, because I still clamor for a good cup of tea, and have a tendency to think that smaller companies create better tea. And they're in Randolph! I have cousins that grew up in Randolph! I bought Vanilla Cream, Rooibos Orange, and Earl Grey. The Earl Grey has the requisite Bergamot (but not too much), and an overtone of something else that is also a little citrusy. The Vanilla Cream is truly lovely; if you've ever had a commercial vanilla tea made with artificial flavorings, you will definitely appreciate this blend. Nicely aromatic, a good mouth feel (I always find Vanilla to make tea a little "thicker" which is nice). The Rooibos comes from a tree in (South) Africa, and is a wonderful herbal tea for a quick pick-me-up or for soothing a disgruntled stomach.
Take Me To Tea Conference 2004 Providence RI
The Tea Industry’s Premier Marketplace, Take Me 2 Tea Expo was held in Providence, Rhode Island at the Providence Convention Center. September 2004. The Expo featured many world-class exhibitors and information packed seminars. I attend many seminars and tea tasting workshops, networked with the tea community from all over the world and brought back many ideas for the Tea Garden. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and chat with James Norwood Pratt who is widely acknowledged as the prophet of the present day tea renaissance in America because of his classic Book, The Tea Lover’s Treasury. The hi-light of the conference was tasting the fine and rare Darjeeling and Assam teas from India at the International Tea Importers booth. Photos below were taken at the International Tea Importers booth, Tea A Magazine.
